Frequently asked questions

At RDC Engineering, we typically price our services based on an hourly rate of $175 per hour. As a small, agile team, we strive to keep our rates competitive while delivering high-quality engineering consultancy tailored to your project needs.

When you engage us, we will provide an initial fee proposal that includes a detailed scope of work. This proposal will clearly outline all anticipated tasks and deliverables. We also include potential optional items that may or may not be required during the project—these will only be charged if they become necessary, ensuring transparency and flexibility for your budget.

Our goal is to offer straightforward, fair pricing with no hidden costs, so you can confidently plan your project with RDC Engineering.

Yes, RDC Engineering offers complimentary due diligence assessments for proposed building uses or subdivisions. We provide high-level, expert feedback to help you understand any engineering considerations early in your planning process, ensuring informed decision-making before you proceed.

At RDC Engineering, we pride ourselves on delivering hands-on expertise without outsourcing to subcontractors. This means the advice and designs you receive always reflect our team’s thorough understanding and the true design intent—no communication gaps or compromises.

We use the latest industry software and technology to explore site servicing options and optimise outcomes. For example, we’ve adopted Autodesk tools to model site earthworks and produce concept designs with balanced cut and fill, reducing unnecessary excavation. Our clients appreciate this innovative approach, which often contrasts with other proposals that involve excessive earthworks.

By choosing RDC, you’re partnering with a consultant committed to practical, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions tailored to your project.

While RDC Engineering is not currently accredited with Unitywater or Urban Utilities, we have extensive experience undertaking designs and liaising directly with nominated certifiers to ensure smooth approval processes. We are actively pursuing accreditation and expect to complete the certification process in the next round of submissions scheduled for 2026.

We understand this may give the impression of additional cost, but we encourage you to obtain a quote from us and compare it with other consultants. We’re happy to discuss this further to ensure you get the best value and service for your project.

At RDC Engineering, we combine deep technical expertise with innovative workflows to deliver tailored, high-quality engineering solutions across South-East Queensland. Our core strengths include:

  • Design and Engineering Optimisation: We streamline complex workflows by integrating customised tools—such as our Dynamo (Python) script that converts Watercom DRAINS data directly into Civil 3D pipe networks with detailed hydraulic info—ensuring accuracy and efficiency from concept to delivery.

  • Pavement Design: Trusted for flexible and rigid pavement design, we assess geotechnical conditions and apply AustRoads, dTMR, and CCAA standards to deliver durable, cost-effective pavement solutions for a variety of projects.

  • Water and Sewer Infrastructure: We’ve successfully designed and managed a wide range of water and sewer projects—including subdivisions, commercial developments, and trunk mains—working closely with certifiers and authorities to ensure compliance and smooth approvals.

  • Hydraulic and Hydrological Modelling: Leveraging Watercom DRAINS, InfoWorks ICM, and InfoSWMM, we provide robust stormwater and drainage modelling integrated with GIS data to support effective water management strategies.
